A bungee jump in Russia that ended in tragedy after the safety system was allegedly set up incorrectly.
Houston police were investigating a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Fort Bend County after an officer identified it through a license plate check in the 4100 block of Westheimer on the evening of July 6. The driver, who was alone inside the vehicle, refused repeated commands to exit during a roughly 25-minute standoff. As officers moved in to take the suspect into custody, he suddenly opened the driver’s door and made a rapid movement that officers interpreted as a threat. Video released by ABC13 appears to show the suspect peeking around the open door and pointing an object toward officers, prompting multiple officers to fire into the vehicle. The suspect, believed to be a man in his 30s, was struck and transported to the hospital in stable condition. As of the latest official update, investigators had not confirmed whether the object was actually a firearm or another weapon, and authorities had not released how many officers fired or how many rounds were discharged.
