EWING, N.J. — Dec. 19, 2025 — A juvenile passenger died and several other people were injured following a police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle in Ewing, New Jersey, on Dec. 19, 2025. According to New Jersey authorities, Ewing Police officers responded at approximately 6:24 p.m. to a report of a stolen white Kia in the area of Clover Avenue. Officer Edward Lester later observed a vehicle matching the description while operating a marked patrol vehicle. Officer Lester followed the Kia for a period without activating emergency equipment. While in the area of Coolidge and Pennington avenues, he activated his lights and siren in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The Kia did not stop, and Officers Charles Wyckoff and Jason Ulrich joined the pursuit in separate marked police vehicles with emergency lights activated. The Kia traveled at a high rate of speed and drove erratically while proceeding north on Prospect Street. At the intersection of Prospect Street and Parkway Avenue, the Kia entered the intersection against a red traffic signal and collided with an eastbound red Subaru. The Subaru contained four occupants. A juvenile passenger was ejected during the collision and later died from injuries sustained in the crash. The remaining occupants of the Subaru suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening. The driver of the Kia also sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Following the collision, the Kia struck a traffic signal pole. The pole fell onto both the Kia and Officer Lester’s patrol vehicle. Officer Lester was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. No criminal charges, court dispositions, or prior criminal histories have been publicly released. Because the matter involves juveniles, additional records may remain confidential under New Jersey law.
