San Antonio, Texas — On Saturday, August 1, 2026, shortly after 7:30 p.m., San Antonio Police Department officers responded to a reported disturbance involving a gun in the 600 block of Aurora Avenue. A caller reported that her neighbor, later identified as 69-year-old Raul Garza, was in his front yard waving a firearm. Officers arrived and saw Garza armed with a handgun. Officers gave him repeated commands, he reached toward the firearm in its holster. Five officers fired their duty weapons, striking Garza. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers or bystanders were injured.
